EXTRAPLANETARY CLIMBING ADVOCACY ISOMORPH

  • I keep coming back

  • Touching down

  • A flattened insect shape

  • A Lamborghini shape

  • A shape of climbing with good Earthling technique up someone else's rock faces, in a little bit of extra gravity

  • Why am I here

  • Why is this me

  • Considered against the scale of even a fraction of the universe, every conceivable thing is approximately the same size, and therefore, approximately the same shape; seems kind of careless

  • Every year I wait for fall to really "hit" me, what's that about

  • Kind of a careless thought

  • "It's not the sun you are"

  • "It's not the sun, you are"

  • Rock layers

  • Accretion disk

  • New visualizations, ways to route the understanding through the GPU rather than the CPU, not that I feel at all sympathetic to computer metaphors for the brain

  • Fall colors

  • The rocks change color

  • The Connecticut Rift

  • The rock changes colors as you descend into the rift and are surrounded by older and older rocks

  • Looking at roadcuts I just want to climb them, to press myself against them and climb them

  • Looking at flowers I make myself small enough to climb them

  • I've notched many first ascents of your planet's flowers

  • On your planet they never cut roads

  • On your planet you never thought about time travel or desired time travel in any familiar sense

  • On your planet the seasons work differently because of axial tilt and a whole bunch of other factors

  • Here are some pictures

  • A tie-down strap blowing in the weather

  • A detached curved plastic car bumper balancing on its rounded middle part in the middle of some other smashed plastic stuff and thus looking like a kind of fragile smile that might blow over

  • I can't mostly tie knots

  • I mostly don't "have" knots

  • I'd rather not fall so I need to know some knots

  • Here are some knots, here is a sequence of pictures of how to make rope into knots

  • Most of us compare each other's faces to other faces and we've been doing that our entire lives

  • Mostly we don't think about why we say rock face or cliff face

  • Mostly we don't talk about why we don't say knot face

  • You wouldn't believe the sound a piano makes when it drops from a height and hits the hard ground, and I guess I mean the asphalt

  • The logistics of bringing a whole piano and a bunch of asphalt all the way to this planet just so we can hear what a little bit more gravity does to the sound

  • The amount of sleep we could get on the trip I guess? and the kinds of dreams we could have

  • Mariachi stuff too

  • I don't know

  • Climbing advocates mostly work with private property owners to negotiate lawful access to vertical, climbable surfaces, to remove not only legal and physical obstacles for climbers but also liability for owners

  • Climbing advocacy groups also work with land management organizations to protect natural climbing areas from the interrelated damages of erosion, pollution, and overuse

  • We like swimming pools

  • We sing in harmonies

  • We precondition "climbing advocacy" in ways that are imperceptible to us

  • Here have a gumdrop

  • We make gumdrops in factories and they don't let us climb the smokestacks

  • Mostly we don't try to climb smokestacks

  • Mostly we belong where we came from

  • Passages of time

  • Walls of stars arcing up and over the unmoonlit cliffs
