I WISH LIKE CERTAIN FISHES

Inside of ourselves is a shield that is possible
to maintain like a distinction between certain
wars and the world we hear about which
can never be addressed. Goals are running
back to us, an example of how not to fall
like a whip into the air. If you think about it
the answer is any number of things.
So far away from me the world continues.
I lie like a fish in my bed, such comfort blue
and moving through me. There ought to be rules.
In large part our enemies are any number of things.
I am a coyote. Desire and possibility. Technology.
These principles themselves don’t leave us alone.
