Dear Reader

When Stevens says "Ramon Fernandez, tell me if you know,"

He is alone. The imagined audience becomes the boundary

Against which the singer attempts to identify the self,

But the song never reaches that unfortunate boundary.

Instead the song continuously expands the boundary,

And in this expanding universe, the singer, as self,

Becomes infinitely smaller. And in that smallness is the origin

Of reality. And from that reduction, the singer is saved.
